The Logical Solution

The VIS-3 extends a Single-Link DVI video channel and supports the DDC (Display Data Channel).

The DVI Extender from Thinklogical permits the placement of a digital monitor or projector up to 1000 meters (3280 feet) away from the controlling computer without loss of resolution. Each DVI Extender system consists of a pair of electronic units connected by a single strand multi-mode fiber optic cable. Installation is plug-and-play, no adjustments are necessary.

The System

Each system consists of a transmitter and a receiver connected by multi-mode fiber optic cable. The transmitter unit connects to the CPU with supplied DVI-D cables (based on graphic adapter and the power it supplies, the power supply may not be required). The receiver unit provides an interface to the monitor (power is always required on receiver side). In those models that are DDC capable, the transmitter reads the DDC table from the monitor and stores it locally in the EEPROM for the CPU. This feature allows the CPU to boot without having the receiver and monitor powered.
