SCS-R offers redundant hot-swappable power supplies and access through dual console and network ports

Thinklogical’s SCS-R series of secure console servers provide server and network management and secure console and integrated power management with enterprise-class security features. Unique to this line of console servers is the redundant AC and DC power supplies (that function in a current sharing mode). The SCS-R power supplies are also hot-swappable; hence users are able to remove a failed power supply while the unit is operating. This ensures that the SCS-R will function even in the event of a single power supply failure. In addition, users have access and control to any combination of serial devices (servers, LAN/WAN devices, routers, workstations) through dual console and network ports. This guarantees high availability, while increasing the time and effectiveness of systems administration and IT staff.

Integrated power control and quick “out of the box” setup and deployment

Remote power management is made possible through simple integration with Thinklogical’s PDU 4/4. This gives user the ability to power cycle, power on/off remote equipment, and control power to individual servers. For the non-Linux user, a common browser based GUI interface that is simple to set up and use provides easy, secure administration and management of IT equipment.

Resembles a true Linux network server

Modular in design, the core of the SCS-R is an x86-based computer running GNU/Linux. In addition, the SCS-R has built in technologies such as 512 MB compact flash drive (which is large enough to hold any 3rd party software components) and support for plug-compatible micro drives. Upon setup the SCS-R generates a unique set of host keys, a crucial security feature which some traditional console servers lack. Another exceptional feature of Thinklogical’s console server line is full distribution, non-embedded Linux. The SCS-R is the only console server on the market that is able to integrate into any system and configuration management software programs that are being utilized by your enterprise. This enables users to customize the capacity of the SCS-R, as well as its level of integration into their particular environment. In addition, users are able to match security technology to fit their processes while modifying and enhancing features to meet their specifications

Enhanced security framework

Data management information is protected through the SCS-R’s standard encryption tools such as Secure Shell (SSH) and Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Access by authorized users is assured via authentication schemes such as RADIUS, TACAS+, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS and RSA Security’s SecurID tokens. The SCS-R also supports network port bonding for added protection. Using a 256K FIFO audit trial per device port, diagnostics can easily be performed should an attached device fail; this allows for faster problem resolution and maximizes network uptime. Advanced features such as simple integration with Thinklogical’s PDU, which addresses remote access of power management, and a 32-bit CardBus for modem and other peripheral access, meet the requirements of the most demanding system and network applications.

Available in 8-, 16-, 32-, and 48- port models that fit in 1U rack space, the SCS-R provides the layer of security, management, and control over widespread infrastructures that users require.
